A modern beacon stands at the east end of the Ynys Brawd.

Event and Historical Information:
Small harbour lights or leading beacons are a feature of all ports. Two attempts were made in 1839 and 1843 to build towers on Ynys y Brawd, an island off Barmouth, but both were washed away before completion.
