DescriptionThis is a collection of about 20 small cairns spread over an area roughly 70m across. It lies within an extensive relict field system (NPRN 308761) immediately north of a later Prehistoric type settlement (NPRN 308762).
Cairnfields such as these are a product of clearance aimed at improving the productivity of the land, whether for pasture or cultivation. Cairnfields might be comparatively recent although this example is likely to be ancient.
