The kiln, now blocked, was located between the end of the nearby branch canal (Cnel Bach) and the Neath River Bridge of the tramroad leading to collieries in Cwm Gwrach and Vernallt Ironworks. It was built into the south face of the tramroad embankment and is now incorporated into a cattle shed (NMRW record card notes, S.R.Hughes, 1975)
Shown as 'Old Limekiln' on OS 25-inch map (1st ed., 1870s).
