Description
A possible linear bank, about 116m WSW-ENE, possibly about 5.0m wide, visible of AP (1953) within the circuit of Lletty Twpa Wood, then bare of trees.

Source: RAF vertical 540.993/0113-4.

There are no indications of an earthwork enclosure upon the hill (see Williams 2001 (AW 41, 10-20), 12; contra Davies & Hogg 1994 (in Cardigan County Hist. I), 252); the various scarps & terraces on the flanks of the hill appear to be natural features.

OS County Series (1889) shows the wood planted with deciduous & coniferous trees (Cardiganshire XXXIV.13) & the linear feature, similar to earlier 19th century pillow mounds in southern Wales, may predate this landuse, although, there being no indications of this feature on the ground, it may have represented a temporary feature, possibly relating to tree-felling.

The farmer at Lletty Twpa has an inscribed stone, recovered from this field some years ago, about 0.5m long: the first line appears to be a Roman numeral, possibly '... XII', the second, 'JDI(?)AN(?)D', the third line being illegible, with a horizontal line beneath it, about half-way down the stone: the stone appears to be a marker of some kind, possibly a boundary stone.
