DescriptionThe Rhondda Fach water scheme was built by the Pontypridd Water Works Co. on the upper reaches of the Rhondda Fach around 1884-1900, and later managed by the Pontypridd and Rhondda Joint Water Board. Principal elements at the upper end are the reservoir dam (NPRN 507506), filtering tanks (NPRN 507511), the site of a tramway (NPRN 507509) that connected the water scheme to Maerdy Colliery, twentieth century ancillary buildings (NPRN 507513, 507514, 507515), and a nineteenth century cottage for workman (NPRN 507507).
