Description
A town house in Wyle Cop, Dinas Mawddwy, thought to be early nineteenth century.
The house shows a three storey, two bay symmetrical facade with sash windows, a central doorway and a low upper storey, under a slate gabled roof. It was built as one of a row with two single bay houses on the west. On the east side it butts against one the cottages that characterise this end of the main street.
The OS 1st edition 1" map of 1836 (Sheet 60NW) shows both sides of the Wyle Cop built up. The north side was later cleared for the grounds and gardens of Y Plas (NPRN 265200).
There is a scattering of three storey houses across the old borough (NPRN 402506), notably the similar but rather grander Red Lion or Llew Goch.
