Description
One of a group of mid nineteenth century farmbuildings at Brixton Farm (NPRN 17136).
This is a long south-facing east-west composite range, two storey or lofted. It is built into the slope, allowing access at the rear to the upper floor. The walls are of stone rubble and the openings are all brick-headed except for the cart entry towards the centre. From west to east the range consisted of; a stable, cowhouse and cartshed, all brick vaulted under a hay loft, and a chaffroom and cartshed under a straw barn in a lower block.
There were two power sources; a horse engine house at the rear and a waterwheel, now removed, on the south wall of the chaff room.
