Description
A range of three distinct outbuildings associated with the Red Lion Inn, dated to 1786 (NPRN 17760). The buildings are depicted on the 1st edition OS County series (Carmarthen. XLI.15 1878), but have now been demolished. Together with the long range on the far side of the road (NPRN 406899) they made up the 'Red Lion homestead'. The range faced north onto a walled yard.
The earliest part of the range was the 'barn' at the east end. This was a single storey lofted building, of whitened stone rubble under a gabled roof. On the north side were two cart entries, one with a shallow segmental head and dressed stone vousoirs. There was a stone partition wall with a loft to one side. The building may be contemporary with the original Inn and could possibly have been a carriage house.
At the centre of the range is a three unit pigsty, again probably late eighteenth century. At the west end was a cartshed, probably added in the early twentieth century.
