Ffynnon y Capel is located in woodland depicted as Allt y Capel on modern Ordnance Survey mapping. The well is thought to be situated in close proximity to the site of Capel Pen Arw, whose exact location is unknown. It is described as a small well, and in 1913 a fragment of moss grown masonry could be traced around it. In 1834 it was noted that the water was formerly in high reputation for its efficacy in the cure of rheumatism and diseases of the eye. In 1913 the water was noted to still be of some repute.
