Description
The site of Ffynnon Gower is depicted on historic Ordnance Survey mapping (1888 to 1901), and is some 650m south-south-west of St Gywair's;St Gower's Church (NPRN 43865) Its exact position in the boggy ground is reported as difficult to find, and there is another spring close by. An associated standing stone, Llech Gower was referred to in the latter part of the seventeenth century. According to local legend another well was situated in the middle of what is now Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), with the old village around it.
