Grosmont is a Medieval and later borough; situated near the Welsh Border with England, lying in the valley of the River Monnow. Historically it was an important settlement and centre for trade. Grosmont has a Norman church and castle, and was the place of a battle in 1405 when Owain Glyndwr fought with the royal army on the banks of the Monnow.
