Description
Cwm-capel drift mine was located in the valley of Cwm Capel just to the north-east of Burryport. It was opened in the early nineteenth century by the Cawdor family, but re-opened and developed from 1816 by lessee George Bowser. In a long history of use it was abandoned and re-opened several times under different opperators until it finally closed in 1952. The site has now been demolished.
The mine lay at the northern end of the Cwm-Capel Branch of the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway (nprn 34695).
