Description1. Glynea Pit, situated in the village of Bynea, is about 3 miles from the centre of Llanelli. It was opened by the Copperworks Company between 1861 and 1863. The pit worked the Bushy, Fiery and Golden seams of dry steam coal. Glynea and Castle Coal and Brick Co., Ltd. owned the mine by 1908. The colliery closed in 1926. There is still extensive evidence of the mine at this site.
The colliery is portrayed as in use by OS County series mapping (1879).

2. Ruins showing clearly the layout of a colliery sunk around l860, including a beam engine house, horizontal winding house, fan house and heapstead. A tip and ancillary building are nearby.
