Description
St David's Pit is part of a group of pit top structures built by the Llangennech Coal Company in 1825, at what became for some time the deepest mine in Wales at 200 metres (660 feet), when coal was struck in 1832. The remains include a stone beam engine house, heapstead, ruins of ancillary buildings, and an unusual steam haulage house for an incline from Penprys Pit (NPRN 33417).
