The site of Tunnel Colliery. Sinking commenced in 1859 but was deferred, restarting in 1869. The South Pit commenced raising coal in August 1874, and had a Waddle fan and beam engine house. The North Pit started in April1876.
The colliery shut in 1924 and the site was subsequently cleared, levelled and landscaped.
