Ancient workings at Esgairmwyn were discovered in 1750; the mine was closed in 1927; a modern mill occupies part of site.

The area has evidence of concentrated mining activity including mine shafts and possible spoil tips. There are also several linear features such as cutting and banks. These features are visible on Aerial Photography.
