DescriptionBute Ironworks, Rhymney, was located on the west (Glamorgan) side of the river Rhymney. The works originated in 1824 when Forman & Co built three furnaces on land leased from the Marquis of Bute who actively encouraged the enterprise located opposite the Rhymney Ironworks on the other side of the river (NPRN 421366). But from 1825 both concerns were operated together by Forman & Co and became known as the Rhymney Ironworks.
