DescriptionTy Crwn, Barmouth, was built about 1833 on the instructions of the county's magistrates as a lock-up for drunks and petty offenders. It is single storey, of circular plan, constructed of rough dressed stone with a conical slate roof rising to a central cylindrical moulded stack. There are two rooms, each served by a plain flat-arched entrance with two barred slit-windows flanking and set high up. Within each room is a corner privy and presumably a fireplace.
