DescriptionA branch canal was built in 1817 across the valley floor to join a railway from Cwm Gwrach collieries. At the junction (SN 8553 0456) there is a derelict wharf-house and at the terminus of the branch canal are the remains of a lime-kiln (SN 8700 0497).
The wharf house faces the canal branch, it is two storey with a lean to, and built of course rubble with brick arches and it is in a derlict condition.
