Description
1.Private branch from Neath Canal (nprn 34444) approx. 1/4 mile long.
B.A.Malaws, 11 June 1999.

2.This canal was used to bring down coal from the Esgyn and other early Eaglesbush Valley pits to the Neath Canal before the present main road was made. Traces of the canal are still visible in one or two places although building development has all but blotted them out. (Neath Ant.Soc. vol.6, 1936-7, p.90)

3. 'c.1812 from the canal at Cwrt Sart between Giant's Grave and Neath to a tramroad from Penrose collieries.' (Hadfield 1967)

The line ran from approx. SS73879585 to SS74359541, a distance of some 650m (0.25 miles).
