Description
Sarnau Signal Box is a Great Western Railway type 3 design and dates from 1885. It stood at Sarnau Station on the Great Western Railway main line between Carmarthen and St Clears, on the southeast side of a level crossing with a minor road. A two storey structure of brick-to-floor construction under a pitched slated roof, it has an external wooden access stairway, balcony and porch at the east end. The GWR double twist-locking frame is original and has 14 levers. The top of the box, with all fittings including the frame and level crossing gate wheel, has been moved to Scolton Manor Museum and re-set on a new-build brick locking room; the original locking room has been demolished.
