Description
The smithy was built in 1836 as part of Boston Lodge Railway Works (nprn 91422). It is a five-bay, slate-roofed, single-storeyed building, with large round-arched openings to the west, of which alternate ones remain open with split boarded doors while the rest are blocked and have small windows inserted. There is a railway siding to the west in front of the smithy, with turntables to either end.
