The sundial formed an element of a Japanese inspired garden feature, a 'Walk of Life', laid out in the 1860's in an area of Bodrhyddan grounds (Nprn266211) known as 'The Pleasuance'. The sundial represented marriage and was approached from St Mary's Well (birth)(Nprn32325).
