Description
Broom Colliery is shown as "Broom Pit (Disused)" on the first and second edition Ordnance Survey 25in mapping of 1889 and 1907, including tips, a shaft and an 'Old Engine House'. Re-constructed and re-opened in 1933, the mine enjoyed a brief renaissance, closing again in 1939; improvements inccluded a 600-yard electrically-hauled narrow-gauge tramway (nprn 400202) to carry coal to the Saunderfoot Railway (nprn 43052). Features extending to the Saundersfoot Railway c.400m to the southwest may be associated tips (nprn 400203).
