Description1. Exmewe Hall was a black and white town mansion built c1550. Parts of it may be embedded in no 2 Upper Clwyd Street (nprn 35503). The Barclays Bank building (nprn 26779) which now lies on the site reproduces some of its features.

2. A plaque fixed to the wall of the Barclays Bank building reads:
"Exmewe House
Birthplace of Sir Thomas Exmewe, Goldsmith & Merchant, Lord Mayor of London, 1517; also of Gabriel Goodman, D.D., Dean of Westminster, 1561 - 1601."
