Medieval(?) & later village, depicted on OS County series (Glamorgan. XXXI.6 1878): a linear green runs NNE from earthwork castle (Nprn305472) with some houses/cottages to either side, the church (Nprn401021) is set on the N of the green, whilst a cross socket-stone, the 'Crying Stone' (Nprn401023) lies upon it: Rose Cottage, formerly the 'Rising Sun' (Nprn19889), appears to be set within an encroachment onto the green.
