Description
Felin Uchaf is a three-storey corn mill with three sets of stones and an overshot waterwheel. A date stone on the front wall records that the mill was built in 1811 by PL (thought to be P Lewis) The mill was visited in December 2008 by members of the Welsh Mills Society who found it in a near state of collapse. A previous visit for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in about 1968 found it to be in good condition with a wire machine and sack hoist and evidence of a kiln and oatmeal machine. In 2008 the roof was noted as having gone almost completely and one wall was bulging outwards. Falling masonry had broken the cast iron overshot wheel and the building was too dangerous to enter although some machinery could still be seen inside. The mill is last thought to have worked in about 1939 and the mill pond was filled in around 2002.
