The prominent rounded knoll at Capel Dewi forms a natural strongpoint, and is bounded by steep slopes down to the Afon Clettwr on its east and south-east sides. Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance in winter light has identified a denuded rampart bank encircling part of tis summit, best visible on the north-east side, with a possible simple in-turned gateway at the northern angle. Undulations within the defended enclosure, seen in low light, may represent former house platforms within the fort but could also be the remnants of former woodland. The enclosure, overall, is a pear-shape measuring c.86m NE/SW by 55m, and is likely to be a small hillfort or defended enclosure of the Iron Age.
