Description

1. NAR SN45NE3

Early 19th century reports that this hill-summit site shows traces of a ruinous enclosure, or encampment, have been repeated but not confirmed.
Source: Evans 1931 (Trans. Cardigan. Ant. Soc. 9), 19-25 [22]. Recorded on Royal Commission air photo: AP895056/5-6

2. Analysis of LiDAR data in 2024 by Steve Spon identified an oval earthwork enclosure at this location, measuring some 180m across, defined by a plough-denuded bank and outer ditch. On the east side the enclosure fades out where it intercepts a valley. The enclosure may be that named in the 'Castle Hill' placename just to the west. It is likely to be a Late Bronze Age or Iron Age hillfort.
