Description

1. Now ruinous farmstead & associated enclosures & fields, depicted inuse on OS County series (Pembroke. X.2 1889).

J.Wiles 10.12.04

2. 'An impressive, ruined farmstead located on the north-west facing slopes of Parc Mawr, Preseli. The site shows linear development from an original two-roomed cottage. There is a large fireplace recess in the uphill gable presumably having a timber lintel and a wattled chimney hood (there is corbelling on the right-hand side, presumably for an oven). The downhill gable has a smaller fireplace with a stone lintel. Some original window openings remain, and ruins of a porch with slab benches. The various additions include a barn and cowshed, and there are remains of smaller pens built against the drystone walls that enclose the yard. It is shown on early OS map and would appear to be of c.1800 date (although the tithe map is missing a section covering this area).'
