DescriptionNAR SN64SE6
A flat-topped, rather conical mound, some 50m north-east to south-west by 40m and 7.0m high, that has previously been identified as a medieval castle motte: excavation on the eastern fringes of the mound, 1991-3, indicated that it was a structured spoil heap, made up of extraction & processing debris from Roman, & possibly earlier gold-mining.
