Description
A small, mid 19th century lead mine on the banks of Nant y Gog, a tributary to the Afon Rhaiadr. When the site was visited in June 2005, the following features were identified on the ground: possible trial mine, NPRN 285670, an open shaft, NPRN 285537, wheel pit, NPRN 285536, an infilled shaft, NPRN 285535, a blocked up level, NPRN285534, an adit, NPRN 285672, the remains of several buildings or built structures NPRNs 285531, 285532, 285533, two spoil tips, NPRNs 285671, 285675 and four quarries, either for stone for the buildings or ore prospecting trenches, NPRNs 285670, 285673, 285674 and 285678. Only fragments of the built structures survive, although the metal hub of the wheel remains in the wheel pit, as well as other pieces of metalwork in the stream.
