Small outcrop with steep sides and reasonably level summit, c.100m north-south by 40m east-west, with place name suggesting a former stronghold. Aerial reconnaissance on 20th March 2005 showed the existance of a straight bank cutting across a narrow neck of the outcrop on the northern side. This may represent a former rampart of a defensive enclosure, or a more recent hedge bank.
