Description

Officially opened on 1 September 1910 by Lord Ninian Crichton-Stuart after whom the stadium was named, Ninian Park was, until 2009, the home ground of Cardiff City Football Club. The land upon which the stadium was constructed was owned by Cardiff City Council. In 1932, with difficult financial circumstances facing the Club, efforts were made to construct a greyhound track in the ground but this scheme failed after meeting opposition from the City Council, greyhound racing authorities, and the Football Association of Wales. The stadium was demolished in October 2009 and had a capacity of 21,500.
