Description
Aerial photography on 8th April 2003 recorded a D-shaped possible earthwork set against a precipitous promontory edge on the northern edge of Moel Llys-y-Coed. The circuit of the enclosure is slightly irregular but appears to have a ditch upslope (external) of the bank, forming a D shaped promontory enclosure c.100m across. A visit as part of uplands initiative survey in 2007 confirmed the site as an archaeological monument. Located on a north facing slope, the upper half is visible on the ground as a semi-circle, approximately 55m diameter. It has a ditch 3-4m wide and 1m deep; 2 possible causeways. The lower half is not visible on the ground, so overall shape of enclosure is unknown.
