Description
In 1910, the local council reclaimed land at the mouth of the river Clwyd and built an amusement park around an excavated 31-acre lake (nprn 419001). The Bassett-Lowke company, Miniature Railways Ltd., constructed a one mile miniature railway, of 15in gauge, around the lake, opening it to the public on 01 May 1911. There was a full complement of buildings and associated structures: station and booking office, signals, water tower and engine shed. The line was closed in 1969 and dismantled, but rebuilt and reopened in 1978. It is one of the earliest such lines in Britain.
