Description
Only the lower portion of Pentre Berw Windmill survives, It probably dates from the 18th century, and it was converted to a dwelling before 1929 (See A. Fisher's list, ind. gen.). In 1974, when it was derelict and roofless, the rubblestone walls stood to a maximum height of 6.5 metres. The diameter at ground level was 5.4 metres, and there had been floors 2.7 and 5.1 metres above this. There had been two segmental-headed doors on opposite sides, one converted to a window when the mill was a dwelling, and rectangular windows to the first floor.
By 2006 the tower had been further truncated, and had received a low-pitched corrugated iron roof, and connected to a new rectangular storage building on the east side, and enclosed in a private plot.
