Description
Built as Head Post Office 1907-1908, by J Rutherford, architect, for Office of Works, the building is 3 storey and attic, built in the English Baroque style with red brick with Portland stone dressings was incorporated into very large commercial development in 1999. Five centre bays have a giant ionic order supporting dentil cornice with pulvinated frieze; balustrading with modern mansard behind. There are large round-headed and key blocked windows to the second floor; tripartite windows with advanced centre pediments, pulvinated friezes and half-columns to first floor. The building was incorporated into a very large commercial development in 1999.
