Description
Early 19th cemtury, picturesque Gothick villa with some modern alterations in conversion to nursing home. Comprises of 2-storey rubble elevations with slate roofs, gabled to front, with 3-parallel hipped ranges to the rear. The main elevations (SW and SE) have retained pointed arched, Gothick, windows with paler stone voussoirs; some glazing has been altered.

There is a symmetrical, 3-bay, main front with windows altered by the insertion of a frosted glass fanlight and top opening casements, and the windows to either side of the entrance have at one time had plinth level sills. There is a central, semicircular arched entrance with a traceried fanlight and glazed side lights, with 6-octagonal panels to the door and similar panels below the side lights. There is a timber porch with cusped main arches and lancet arches to the balustrade, and with later steps, traceried bargeboards with finials and pendants.

The 1st floor has an intersecting tracery fanlight over modern top-hung glazing, with a similar window to the ground floor centre. There is a broad Edwardian bay window to the right with plate glass windows and toothed valencing, and a smaller splayed bay to the left with horizontal glazing bars. Beyond this a rubble wall projects to close the front garden. The right hand side has a 2-storey splayed bay to the gable, similar to a small bay on the left hand side, and a panelled band between floors.

A later cross range (see masonry break) is beyond, with a Victorian gabled porch with bargeboards, 16-pane sash windows to 1st floor and modern glazing below flanking blocked window. At the rear is a rubble and hipped roof outhouse running back towards the stable yard.

Interior retains panelled doors, reveals and shutters. Some alterations in conversion to nursing home.
