A corning house where, the pieces of compressed slab were reduced to grains by crushing and then sorted into various sizes by sieving, (No.34 on Nobel Plan). Although a building is shown as being here in 1877, the present structure has concrete walls and may have been rebuilt, hence the designation `New' on the Nobel Plan. It was served by a siding off the tramway. The building is roofless but the east and south walls still survive to eaves level.
