Description
After 1877 but by 1904, a pump house (No.35A on the Nobel Plan), powered by an 18HP turbine, was built on the north bank of the river, opposite the Middle Weir (NPRN:405090). Immediately alongside to the east was an overshot waterwheel (No.35 on the Nobel Plan). The wheel was supplied with water from the Upper Leat (NPRN:405081), which was carried across the tramway on a launder; the leat also supplied the turbine. The pump house supplied power for a hydraulic press house (NPRN:405095) on the south side of the river. The remains of the structure, built in masonry, are extant.
