After 1877 but before 1904, a tramway branch was built from near the Middle Weir (NPRN:405090), across the river to a hydraulic pellet press house (NPRN:405095). The bridge over the river was constructed on masonry piers, which still survive. The bridge, of two spans, presumably doubled as a footbridge replacing that across the weir. The present superstructure is modern.
