Description
1263: "The following year John Lestrange the Younger, who was then bailiff in Baldwin's Castle, and a mighty host with him, made a night raid across Ceri to Cydewain. And after he had gathered vast spoil he came back down again. And when the Welsh heard that, they pursued them and on that day they slew of the English more than two hundred, between those on the fields and those in the barn of Aber-miwl. And forthwith after that, John Lestrange burned the barn because of that slaughter." Source: Thomas Jones, The Chronicle of the Princes, 1955, p.253.
