DescriptionTwo storey red-brick built cottage, with dormer windows to front. Associated with the canal maintainence base here, this is one of five 'Aqueduct Cottages' probably built in the 1840s. This is the only detached house and therefore was probably for the canal maintenance foreman. All the cottages are built on the 60ft high spoil mound from the deep canal cutting in front of the cottages and to facilitate the approach to the 70ft high crossing of the River Ceiriog. This cottage is the nearest of the houses to the Chirk Aqueduct.
