Description
An example of a good quality period farmhouse with a late vernacular plan. Late C17 with additional C18 and C19 remodelling and extensions. A two storey building with attics (dormers removed), rendered brick and dentil course at eaves. It is single pile with C18 and C19 brick lean-to's to the rear and a C19 rubble wing with slate roofs. It has raised gable ends with stone coping, two brick end stacks, and a brick ridge stack to the right of the centre.

Interior: The ground floor has a large central room with two axial beams and large inglenook fireplace. There are boxed beams in the other rooms. The C18 stairs rise to the rear of the central stack. The dairy and scullery in the rear lean-tos still retain their original features. The dairy has a large rough beam, ceiling hooks and rods, huge slate slabs on brick piers, and shuttered windows.

Outbuildings: A very large courtyard range of brick and slate farm buildings lies to east of farmhouse. It is predominantly mid-C19 but also incorporates portions of earlier brick buildings. The most prominent features are the wide arches to the open-fronted cattle shelters.
