The possible clearance cairn of boulders at Llys Athro is located on enclosed land on a gently south-west facing slope above the Afon Teifi at 248m above sea level. It comprises five boulders surrounding, and leaning against, a larger sixth one. The structure measures 3m from east to west by 2.5m. The largest boulder has a height of 1m.
While the cairn is likely to be of recent date and explained by boulders cleared during land improvements, local astronomical readings suggest a possible ritual or calendrical significance, perhaps related to the central boulder which became a focus for later clearance (1).
