DescriptionA deep cutting which represents a pioneering scale of earthwork found on waterways of the heroic age. Part of one of the first cut-and-fill projects with the spoil going to build south embankment of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Built in 1795-1802 by the engineers William Jessop & Thomas Telford. Visited on 8th September 2006 when the canal was busy between very well wooded banks.
