Description
Telford Lodge is an early nineteenth-century hipped-roofed rendered villa A probable resident engineer's house overlooking Chirk Tunnel, Basin and Aqueduct, it had been built by 1802. Probably designed by William Jessop and Thomas Telford and occupied by Matthew Davidson. The single-storey pavilions may have been an office and drawing-office. Similar in form and function to the slightly later 'Scotch Hall', now the Telford Inn at Trefor Basin, overlooking the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct construction site. Seen externally on the 20.10.2006.

Stephen R. Hughes, 10th September 2007.
