Description
Close to the north-east corner of the dry dock, this was built as the Dry Dock Manager's House between 1806 and 1838. There is also evidence that it functioned as a beer shop and smithy, possibly in the demolished section of the building.

It is a two storey stone house, with gabled roof. The door is on the left side of front facade with two pairs of sash windows on the right. On the south wall there is the shadow of another gabled building which indicates a demolished section. There is a more recent brick extension on the north and east sides of the building. Brickwork above the masonry walls visible from the exterior indicates that the height of the original walls were raised to add a first floor to the building.

A detailed survey of the house was carried out by RCAHMW in December 2009.
