DescriptionRear service wing to a mansion built after 1751 and much rebuilt in 1833-4 (NPRN 5130). The mansion fell into disrepair in the later twentieth century and was partly demolished so that the service wing is now detached and has been extensively modernised.
The wing consisted of four ranges set about a long central lightwell or court. The west range is two storey and, with the now mostly vanished south range, ran back to the house. The north and east ranges are single storey. The central court has been raised into a two storey range and its original arrangements have been obscurred.
It is likely that the wing contained various service offices, pantries and larders and perhaps bakehouse and laundry.
